Beginner Tropical Aquarium Plants
Here are the plants that i have come across and found to be easy to look after.
1. Cryptocoryne Undulata - They are best place near the front of the aquarium as they are not like other plants that grow vertical. When you first put them in, i find that they look rather near dying, and i had thought they would be gone a few days later, but new leaves had grown and they are still with me propagating in my fishtanks. They do tend to have reddish leaves which gives it good contrast to the mostly green leaves of other plants.
2. Hygoraphila Difformis - Water Wisteria. This plant needs rich nutrients substrate. The leaves start to turn white if there's not enough iron. So my solution was to put a rusty nail in the fishtank to give it some iron. After a few days green leaves started to come back and the plant still thrives in my aquariums. They tend to attack other plants by overcrowding them and growing thick roots under the substrates where other plants are so as to deprive them of nutrients, if you don't watch, the other plants will just slowly disappear.
3. Hygoraphila Corymbosa - This plant is very easy to keep. I have not bought anything to help it at all. It needs good lighting though. Can grow above the water, so needs trimmed. You can cut the stems and replant them somwhere else to propagate the plant.
4. Rotala Indica - This plant is quite nice to have in a fishtank. The tips of the plants turn a bit reddish which adds colour. Very easy to keep as well. It just kept growing in my aquarium without me having to do anything. They leaves can get quite small once the plant is tightly compact. The stems grow from the sides which makes the plant thick, but in turn the leaves turn really small. So allow space by cutting the stems and planting them elsewhere.
5. Vallisneria Straight - This plant is very easy to keep. If not managed, this plant would overtake the plant in no time. Once the plant has settled, the runners from the plant will start reaching out propagating the plant. The leaves are quite nice as they are very slender green where fish swim through and hide.
I hope you like the video of the plants as well.
Many thanks.
